Who's this guy?

Trying out this blog thing. Gonna try to keep it mostly van related for now. Working on two Dodge vans at the moment. An impact blue 1980 Dodge Streetvan and a white 1985 Dodge van. Starting mostly with the white one so I can get some practice to as the streetvan is my baby. Comments and Suggestions are welcome as long as they are constructive.

replacing the wheel cylinders in the rear as one of them blew out. Of course one of the bolts is stripped. after that finally found a spacer for my carb to try to reduce the heat being transferred to it so will install that. Should help it run when its warmed up.
Got some seagrass squares to cover the fronts of the benches in the back and maybe parts of the ceiling.
Gonna finally have to make myself an official MN resident so will have to hang the custom plates from South Dakota inside.

got the driver side up now too. bench on the driver side should be good however the pass. side has an uneven gap due to the plywood being fastened directly to the ribs of the van. The driv. side I put some wood strips so it wouldn't have to bend so far in to get to the ribs. Will have to take the pass side off and do the same on that side. Otherwise coming together nicely. Not sure yet what i'm gonna cover the fronts of the benches with yet but the tops will have lids and then some upholstered foam padding. Built a box for the spare tire to go in which will double as a shelf and possible table if I can get the design down. "Borrowed some of my interior layout from Van boogie Overdrive. Really like his van but don't want to copy it by any means.
got the first panel mounted. and picked up some insulation to mount the other side. Now trying to figure out how to mount the ceiling and mount the side benches.

Been working on the rear interior panels. Gotta get some insulation before I can secure them up. Feels good to finally have time to really dig into this van and enjoy designing the interior to match the image in my head.
have the driver side rear panel cut, and sealed with amber shellac.
passenger side is cut and the bench's/storage cut.

some various items I've found on clearance for decoration in the van.

theme ideas

Decided will name the white van The Getaway. Found some low back seats in a church bus at the salvage yard I work at for the front. will have to recover them. Trying to decide if I will cover the floor with carpet or wood. thinking the wood will look nice with the theme. Working on designing a surfboard bench or table for the interior.

Starting the body work on the white van. got 4 doors for the back to practice on. When I bought the van the rear doors were wrecked so I've bought a few and gonna go for the best 2. Still debating on what color the van will eventually be but i've got plenty of time to think about that while i'm block sanding this beast. Interior will likely be a surf/tiki theme but I've been known to change my mind.

More toys.

couple vans i've spotted

Added some centerline wheels and new tires. Test fitting the flares. Bought them from trucknvans.com, very unhappy with the fit for the passenger side. called them up and sent pics of how far off the front lower on that side and they said too bad there must be something wrong with my van. Flares also do not fit my 1980 street van and are supposed to. Would not recommend them for flares. will have to do some major reconstruction on the passenger side.Passenger side front looks nothing like the driver side and one would think they should be mirror images of each other. The wheels really changed this van.

Some before pics of my white project van. $500 bucks. First thing to go is the ugly bug shield.
